No, I couldn't hang with that game at all." We were a little shocked - enough, in fact, to sort of blurt: "What, are you kidding? You thought it sucked?" You just knew he was a jaded, hardcore gamer nerd, the kind of guy who'd sneer if he caught you playing a demo game on easy. That could make using the guns less sloppy.Silent Hill Anecdote #27: We were rummaging around a new and used games/comic shop in Tokyo last summer, one with lots of action figures on display, 'swimsuit' calendars and looping videos featuring the virtual cheesecake of Dead or Alive Volleyball, and a large and somehow arrogant-looking fellow working the counter. It looks like in one of the screens he had an over the shoulder view with an aiming reticule. So I am looking forward to Homecoming to give me the classic SH with added current gen goodness. I feel the lack of continuity is what makes Siren less scary. You just had to keep going and there was no going back home (well in exept in SH3, but that wasn't the same).
Typically in SH you were on a journey and you were always moving through it. It was worth doing that it way for the sake of the story, but I think it is more frightening to go from point A to point B and then on to C in a horror game. However one of the things I didn't like about it was how the areas were broken up. It was seriously disturbing, the whole concept of him being in that room just freaked me out and kept me playing. But it was the story that really drew me in.
